National-Security Grade Excellence

Built by National-Level Cybersecurity Experts. Designed for Operational Technology.

Founded by former NSA cybersecurity professionals with nearly a century of collective experience protecting critical national assets.

Zuul translates national-security-grade techniques into practical protection for building management systems and operational technology. We bridge the critical gap between high-consequence defense and daily building operations.

About Zuul

Zuul is an operational technology security company focused on the reality of modern buildings and critical infrastructure. We were founded by engineers who spent their careers defending high-consequence systems, from national security networks to critical industrial environments.

Our team saw the same pattern repeat: operational systems were increasingly connected, but security was an afterthought. Building management systems, controls networks, and OT equipment were never designed for today’s threat landscape. Point solutions and perimeter tools could not deliver the level of assurance these environments demand.

Zuul was created to close that gap. We bring identity, policy, and cryptographic control directly into the operational fabric of buildings and OT — without asking operators to become security experts. Our platform is built to be embedded with OEMs and integrators, so that security is present from initial deployment through the full lifecycle of the system.

The Reality in OT and BMS Environments

Flat, legacy networks that cannot express modern security policy.

Devices never designed with strong identity, authentication, or encryption.

Fragmented responsibilities between IT, OT, OEMs, and integrators.

Compliance checklists that do not translate into enforceable controls.

Operators asked to shoulder security risk without the tools to manage it.

Why Zuul Exists

What Zuul Makes Possible

Cryptographic identity for every device, service, and user on the control network.

Policy-driven enforcement that maps directly to how buildings and systems actually run.

Embedded security patterns that OEMs and integrators can reuse across deployments.

Continuous verification of state, configuration, and communications.

A security foundation that supports both uptime and safety — not one at the expense of the other.

Security must work — not just present well.

Our standard for success is simple: would we trust this system if it were protecting a critical national asset? That mindset shapes every design choice we make.

Zuul is built to be operated by the people who run buildings and OT environments every day. We focus on controls that can be deployed, maintained, and verified in the real world — not just in a slide deck or assessment report.

If a security control cannot be enforced, observed, and recovered from failure, it does not belong in a critical OT environment.

Innovation and Intellectual Property

Zuul’s approach is grounded in original research and protected innovation. Our team holds patents in secure infrastructure control, certificate lifecycle automation, and policy-driven enforcement for operational technology environments.

We work directly with leading building management system OEMs to embed these capabilities into their platforms. That allows security to be delivered as part of the system itself — not bolted on after deployment.

As threats evolve, we continually refine our models and controls, drawing on real-world deployments across diverse OT environments.

Our Philosophy

We believe that people should be able to live and work in buildings that are both intelligent and secure. Achieving that reality requires more than new tools — it requires a disciplined, engineering-first mindset applied to security.

Zuul exists to bring that mindset to operational technology. We focus on clarity over complexity, guarantees over best-effort, and long-term resilience over quick wins.

We will continue to partner with owners, operators, OEMs, and integrators who share that standard. Together, we can raise the security baseline for buildings and critical infrastructure worldwide.
